muscle realignment

about muscle realignment

What is it?

Muscle Realignment Treatment offers a new fundamental understanding of what is possible through muscle release, and provides an alternative to other physical therapies. It offers a fast relief from muscular pain conditions that cause discomfort and interruption to a healthy lifestyle.

There are 640 muscles in the body, 206 bones and 200 joints.

Muscle Realignment is a specialised treatment, releasing muscle fibres which restrict the hips, pelvis and spine, as well as focusing on general pain points. Muscle Realignment specialises in hip, pelvis, spinal realignment. It decreases pain and muscle spasms. It increases the range of motion of the muscles and joints by releasing tight, twisted muscle fibres.

Originally developed for the Australian Institute of Sports, by John Bennati, to aid athletes in quick and efficient recovery, with lasting results. A specific set of stretch and release techniques are used on muscle cross over sections/trigger points, attachment points, and pain points.

What's the difference between remedial massage and muscle realignment?

Remedial massage works on muscle groups, helping to release tension, working in a set pattern of massage movements and generally massaging the full body.

Muscle Realignment uses a planned set of procedures specifically working on fascia, soft tissue, deep tissue, connective tissue and trigger points within painful areas.

You could spend the treatment time working on one particular area on restriction, so therefore more specific than generalised like massage.

Would you benefit from muscle realignment?

If you have any of the following conditions then YES:

  • Muscle pain / tightness / inflammation / numbness
  • Tension headaches
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Sciatica
  • Scoliosis/kyphosis/lordosis
  • Spondylosis
  • Frozen shoulder
  • Golfers elbow/tennis elbow
  • Knee pain, restriction/inflammation
  • Bursitis
  • Repetitive strain injury
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Bulging/herniated disc – preventing ongoing disc degeneration by restoring normal pelvic and spinal alignment

My experience

I trained as a Sports/Remedial Massage Therapist, Reiki practitioner  and  Life Coach in London, England. Then progressed to muscle realignment here in Australia – a unique approach getting to the root cause of the problem, focusing on muscles that pull the skeletal structures out of place.

This specific technique is the most efficient way I have learned to release and maintain healthy muscles and body structure, with long lasting results.

Your body knows how to heal – sometimes it just needs a little reminder… and so do you!

Typically it takes 4-6 session for you to release and realign, mind, body and spirit. Then all you need do is maintain. I thrive on seeing my clients at this point, empowering them to be free of the ‘need’ for therapy. You are your best therapist, teacher, friend. Let me help you re-member your truth.

frequently asked questions

In my experience as both a Massage Therapist and Realignment Therapist – realignment is a deeper, more specialised treatment, allowing for longer lasting results in a shorter time span.

Muscle realignment starts with a warm-up massage then focuses on particular areas, getting to the root cause of the tightness, pain or inflammation.

Everyone is different. This is powerful, deep tissue release work, and as such can take a few days to process and work through. Some people feel instant relief, heightened energy, sense of purpose and alignment. Others can feel a little tender, nauseous, out of sorts for a couple of days before feeling the benefits.

Specific points are worked on such as muscle cross over points/trigger points. These can feel tight and painful when initially worked on, followed by quick relief as the restricted muscle fibres are released. The pain points are the hot-spots needing release.

When muscles become tight or traumatised due to injury, the individual fibres twist and shorten. These twisted, shortened fibres can pull the skeletal bones and joints out of place, most commonly causing hip misalignment, which often leads to referred pain elsewhere in the body.

Absolutely. Anyone who has muscles will benefit from this release. I’ve released people from ages 7 to 90.

At this time, Australia doesn’t recognise International qualifications for Health-fund rebates, so no specific claim is available at this time. A receipt can be given and payment plans offered, if necessary, just ask.

Magnesium Chloride oil spritz and creams are predominantly used throughout the session as well as Natural bees wax oil from Tui Balm Australia.

I release muscle points with my fingers/hands and Trigger point tools. These help to cross-friction the muscle fibres efficiently.

about magnesium chloride

The 4th common mineral found in the human body, essential for the normal function and performance of muscles, blood, heart & nerves. Magnesium chloride is involved in cell wall integrity, meaning, if deficient, nutrients and minerals cannot get in the cells and toxins cannot leave.

“Magnesium is now becoming a big revolution in natural health as industrialised societies suffer more and more under stress and are looking for ways to compensate without relying on drugs or surgery.  Transdermal absorption of magnesium salts is the best way to absorb magnesium, as no digestion of tablets is required” -Elektra Magnesium

The cream and oil spritz act as a fast anti-inflammatory/pain killer, especially for muscles!

Product source – Elektra Magnesium

Natural, chemical free products are essential in my option, so I chose carefully when selecting a Magnesium source.

Elektra use organic, chemical free, food grade Magnesium Chloride (Chloride is the most readily available source of magnesium for the body) containing essential oils for different nutritional properties, and shea butter in the creams – a high fat substance, essential for the healthy functioning of cells in the body.

Magnesium Chloride is the most readily taken up mineral by the body – as opposed to magnesium sulfate (Epsom salts). Anything taken orally has to be digested.

Topical products such as oils, creams and flakes require no digestion and are easily taken up through the blood vessels under the skin, like tree roots taking up minerals from the soil.

Unlike drugs or herbs, you cannot overdose. The body takes up what it needs via the tiny capillaries of the dermis under the skin and is self-regulating.  It does not take up any more than it needs at one time.

Products can be purchased during the session or arranged for pick-up at the studio outside of sessions.
